BitDefender antivirus software for server applications

SMT Network Solutions has made the decision to move its ‘anti-virus’ client base – some 200 businesses - over to BitDefender, following a major review of the desktop solution supplied to support its Efinity servers.

Renowned for its high level of security protection, the Efinity server is a general purpose workhorse, providing a wide range of core functionality to support enterprise computing and tele-communications infrastructure.

Typical server applications include use as gateways to secure sites, in conjunction with data back-up facilities. The Efinity server offers two layers of protection against malware. An in-house developed anti-virus system, claimed to be as good as anything currently on the market; backed up by a well known ‘brand’ solution, for additional reassurance.

Commenting on the decision to switch brands, Chris Ball, managing director of SMT Network Solutions, stressed the need for on-going development, “keeping us ahead in the battle against attack and to defend the end user from this very annoying and potentially costly problem.”
