Scientists say they can train wasps to detect hidden explosives, plant diseases, illegal drugs, cancer and even buried bodies.
Researchers at the University of Georgia and the US Department of Agriculture have produced the Wasp Hound, a device that sounds an alarm when the insects encounter a target odour.
