The cost of broadband internet access in the UK is bottoming out, the internet service provider AOL said yesterday as it announced plans to invest up to £120m in putting its own kit into 1,000 telephone exchanges to provide new services such as internet telephony and broadband TV.
The company, which has 2.3 million British customers including 1.1 million on broadband, believes that while special deals such as its own £14.99 per month for six months introductory offer will continue, the overall price of broadband is unlikely to go lower than current prices of around £18 a month because it is uneconomic.
