Astronaut Lisa Nowak is back in Texas after being charged in Florida with trying to murder the woman she believed was her romantic rival for a space shuttle pilot's affections.

Nowak arrived in Houston after an early Wednesday morning flight from Orlando and was escorted into a police car waiting on the tarmac. She was accompanied by chief astronaut Steve Lindsey, who helped guide her down the stairs to the tarmac as she hid her head under a jacket.

Nowak was charged Tuesday with attempted first-degree murder, attempted kidnapping and three other crimes. They all stem from what police describe as a love triangle involving a fellow astronaut.
