IBM Fights Back on Microsoft's Office Standard

In a letter to the state of Massachusetts Secretary of Executive Agency Finance and Administration, IBM urged support for the OpenDocument format, criticizing Microsoft's attempt to promote its Office Open XML as a standard for the state's documents.
IBM is supporting Massachusetts earlier decision standardizing its office software on the OpenDocument format. But since the state's decision, Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney stepped up in support for the Microsoft position, which prompted IBM's VP of standards and OpenSource to write Thomas Trimarco. Trimarco is the state's Secretary of Executive Agency Finance and Administration.
IBM's Robert Sutor argued that 'anyone can get the OpenDocument Format (ODF), that it is is already in the International Organization for Standardization fast track process.'
