Apple Computer's iTunes's dominance over the digital music market could soon be broken by online retailer Amazon.com. The B2C leader is currently believed to be in talks with four major music companies about licensing rights to their offerings.

Market watchers yesterday nodded as if to say “about time” to reports that Amazon.com would launch a digital music service similar to Apple Computer's iTunes. The plan includes, sources said, a portable music player under its own brand and a subscription service that together, would effectively break iTunes's hold over the market.
