Astronomers scouring the sky for the presence of extraterrestrial life now have a list of most likely place to support life and can thus focus on these areas. Astronomers at the meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science were told that stars that are located nearby and have the right composition are more likely to support life.

Margaret Turnbull of the Carnegie Institution in Washington has drawn up a potential list of the top 10 stars that could provide habitat for life outside of Earth. 'There are 400 billion stars in the galaxy, and obviously we're not going to point the Terrestrial Planet Finder … at every one of them,' Turnbull said.
