BT, Virgin to launch TV-over-mobile service

BT Group PLC has joined forces with Virgin Mobile Holdings PLC to offer a nationwide digital television and radio service to mobile phone users.
Virgin, subject of a 920 mln stg potential offer by cable group NTL, will become Europe's first mobile operator to offer broadcast TV to its mobile customers when it launches a commercial service later this year, said BT in a statement.
Using BT's Movio technology, Virgin Mobile users will be able to view a wide range of digital TV content and access more than 350 radio stations, all of which will be broadcast over the UK's digital audio broadcasting spectrum.
