Chipmaker Intel on Monday released its first desktop processors featuring technology that enables computers to divide themselves into several virtual PCs.
Intel's Pentium 4 chips using its new Virtualisation Technology will initially be available in computers by Acer, Founder, Lenovo and TongFang.
According to Intel, the new processors offer businesses improved manageability and bolstered security.
Virtualization allows a platform to run multiple operating systems or applications in independent partitions or “containers” that can be tailored for specific needs such as IT management services and protecting networked assets.
